1993(ish) to January 28, 2008.
In mid-January 2008, we realized that Spot
had gotten very, very thin. A trip to the vet showed that he was
having issues with his pancreas and kidneys, and had an underactive
thyroid. He was put on medication, and seemed to rally at first,
but then stopped eating completely. We could do nothing for him,
and made the decision to put him humanely to sleep. He was put
to sleep looking at his favorite person on earth. We miss him
an awful lot.
Spot is the oldest of our boys, and also the
most timid. He was Fred's cat before the spud and I moved down
here. He showed up as a kitten at the back door of Fred's apartment,
howling but wouldn't let Fred approach him. He spent many hours
meowing, and messed up his voice; after a few days Fred finally
got close enough to grab Spot, tossed him in a box and took him
to the vet. He's the most gentlemanly of the four, and doesn't
go looking for fights, but also doesn't hesitate to put the smack
down when one of the other three gets uppity.
Likes: Being left alone, having plenty of food
in the food bowl, hiding under the bed, laying on the couch and
looking out the window.
Dislikes: Being approached, looked at, or talked
about.
Nicknames: big buddy, and buhhhhhhhdy

Spot, reporting for the Washington Journal.

Checking to see what's going on outside.

Hanging out on Mom's desk.

His favorite hangout - under the bed. And he
doesn't like being disturbed, thank you.
